It’s Siblings Day! Whether you’re a big sister, a little brother, or vice versa, today has been marked as a fun holiday for those of us with siblings.
It’s also a special time for parents. As a newborn photographer in Delaware and the Philadelphia areas, I often times have families coming to my Hockessin, Delaware studio with an older sibling. Many times, this older sibling is a NEW big brother or sister! And as a mommy of two little ones myself, (in my own little humble opinion), there is NOTHING more special than creating a special piece of artwork depicting new siblings together.
I say this from experience. When we first brought home Liam, I created this image of him and his NEW big sister, Abby:
Even now, two years later (two years on the 12th, actually!) it’s one of my favorite images of the two of them.
Did it take some bribing? Yep. Some coaxing? Of course.
But once Abby became a big sister, my job as a newborn photographer became just a little bit clearer.
It’s one of my top priorities, when an older sibling comes in for their new baby’s newborn session, to make sure that we get an amazing sibling image. Sometimes it just takes a little bit of patience, but it’s all worth it in the end!
Since today is “National Sibling Day,” here are just a few of my favorite sibling images from the last year or so.
