Hey there, new friend, I'm so excited to meet your new family soon!

Please refer to this guide when preparing for your session. I've broken it down in to five parts: What to Wear, How to Prepare, What to Bring, The Day of Your Session, and After the Session.

WHAT TO WEAR FOR YOUR SESSION - Family Newborn Session Only

If you’re unsure of what to outfit choose, that’s OK! We will pick together once you’ve shown me the outfits you’ve selected to wear.

Here are some things to keep in mind when planning your outfits:

  • Use this [Pinterest board link] to gather some color palate ideas.
  • Neutral colors - staying monochromatic (everyone in similar colors rather than contrasting colors.) This keeps the eye from darting around the image, keeping the focus on faces and the baby. This does not mean everyone has to dress matchy-matchy!
  • Example: brown and olive can all work well together without competing with each other. Brown and bright pink will NOT work well together, as the eye will immediately go to the brighter color, however, a light kahki and very light pink WILL.
  • Limit patterns to one person, if any at all (larger than a quarter)
  • Textures on mamas and daughters are gorgeous (lace, chiffon, etc)
  • Try to choose clothing with no logos on the front or sleeves.
  • Shoes may be seen, but I love barefoot! The sets are designed to be "comfortable" so shoe-less options are always welcome.

Trust me when I say, I know the feeling of a whirlwind swooping by when trying to get out of the house with a new baby (and possibly an older sibling!)

THE DAY OF YOUR SESSION

When you arrive to the studio (116 S. Broad Street Suite A Kennett Square, PA 19348 - parking behind the building, off of Cypress St.), you will finish preparing yourselves (if family photos are selected) and baby (last minute feeding, changing clothes, etc).

If we are photographing family portraits, we will begin with those images first, so you can relax for the remainder of the session.

The remainder of the session is devoted to the baby, or, if we are photographing baby only, we will dive right in.

When photographing the baby in the stylized sets, the session can last anywhere from one to two-and-a-half hours, depending on each baby. Some babies need to feed a bit more, others may need several diaper changes. Others may be light sleepers. There are some babies who just snooze the day away and never bat an eye.

Don’t worry about which baby yours will be. You’re coming to the baby-whisperer.  I’ve got tons of tricks up my sleeve.

I custom create your sets based on your color preferences from the questionnaire that I have sent to you. My designs are kept neutral in tones and textures. In fact, I’ve coined my style “earthy-organic,” because I love to use earth tones and natural textures.

I promise, I will never dress your baby up in crocheted animal outfits or silly little costumes.
