You’re creating your legacy as you read this—make sure to take time to document it, too! Creating family portraits tells your children and future generations about your family as it is today. We will spend time creating a variety of images: from the formal, posed shots, to the candid, playful images, you will receive a gallery that shows your family’s personality. The artwork that we create during your session will be a treasure trove for your children when they grow older, and the albums, wall art, and prints will one day be cherished by them in their own homes.
Family sessions are typically scheduled during the fall and spring, but can be held during any time of year. Sessions are held at a location of your choice on a Monday, Tuesday or Thursday afternoon.
Petite Family Sessions are a shortened session, good for those with little children that may not have the ability to focus for more than 30-45 minutes.
Each session is held at either Longwood Gardens ($) or Goodstay Gardens on Monday, Tuesday or Thursday evenings. Petite sessions are approximately 30 minutes in length.
10 digital images: $350
15 digital images: $450
20 digital images: $550
Full-length sessions are approximately 1 – 1 1/2 hours in length and are perfect for any family session! Heirloom albums, custom wall art, and mounted prints are offered to help you display your new artwork in your home.
Packages begin at $800. All packages included a select number of digital images and a custom piece of wall or table artwork. Clients typically spend between $800-$1500 on their full-length family sessions.
Once you’ve viewed your images at your Reveal and Ordering appointment, you will decide on the products you’d like to purchase. All purchases are done that day, so feel free to bring all decision makers to the appointment. Due to the size limitations of the studio, and the need to concentrate on selecting your beautiful images, please have alternate care provided for children. Payment is due at the appointment and products will be ordered the same day. It typically takes about 2-4 weeks for products to arrive.
You are welcome to send any inspiration ideas that you may have. However, I ask that you allow me to use my creative flow and artistic ability to create the images that best suit your family. Often times we see images that we want but can not be exactly recreated unless we were to visit the exact location at the exact time of day, and evoke the exact emotion that you see in the image. I want these images to reflect YOUR family and personalities, not someone elses. 🙂
It happens! Feel free to use bribery in any shape or form! Treats are welcome, but please try to save them for AFTER the session. Food in mouths will not be photoshopped out.
Spend time preparing them ahead of time. Explain to them beforehand what to expect. Tell them how happy it would make you to see their smiles and giggles on camera. This often helps them to cooperate.
If children (especially between the ages of 1 and 3) decide not to sit still for the formal photos, then we will create fun, candid images which shows your family’s personality.
I always recommend solid, neutral colors, as they tend to photograph best. Avoid small patterns and bright colors. Try browsing Pinterest, or Googling outfit choices for the season in which you are having your images made. You can also send me cell phone photos of any ideas you may have!
Fall sessions should be in the calendar by the late summer to ensure availability. Fall is the most popular time for family portraits, so be sure to schedule early. Spring portraits should also be planned several weeks in advance. Planning early also allows plenty of time for outfit selection and preparations!
Images will be ready for viewing at the studio within two weeks of your session. Before you leave from your photo session, we will schedule your Reveal and Ordering appointment. Evening appointments are available if daytime availability is limited.
